Metroplex Civic & Business Association (MCBA) was founded to ensure the continued success of the Dallas Fort-Worth Metroplex. Founded in 2021, the MCBA now has over 115 Member companies that employ over 6,500 individuals across DFW.
In the Early 1900’s, business leaders, factory owners, and industry leaders were directly involved in their local communities. They were Mayor’s, City Council Members, and sat on the school boards. Post World War II, Globalization happened and business leaders started interfacing with foreign governments and left the local governments to fend for themselves. So many of the Great American Cities are falling apart, as the local leaders are ill-prepared and lack the education or experience to run a city.
In founding the MCBA just a few years ago, I realized quickly that there are only a few things that really matter for local leadership. They are the Fundamental, they are foundation, and they are common ground for most constituents.
5 needs that have to be met to have a thriving city:
People want to be/feel successful: To provide for their family and loved ones
People want to be/feel Safe: To have low crime & low homelessness / vagrancy
People want to have great schools: So, their children can hopefully be successful on day
People want to grow/build Businesses: Which requires low regulation & low taxes
People want to have working Infrastructure: functional roads & reliable utilities
If a city doesn’t these items right, Businesses can’t be successful, and they leave. When this happens, jobs leave, and then people leave. Most cities and local governments have spent decades expanding their budgets to meet the needs of growing populations. Many of these cities are now collapsing because when people left, their Tax base began to fall. When this happens, a vast majority of cities decide to tax the remaining people more to close the gap. You can see this is a downward spiral that cities will never win.
The MCBA get companies and their employees back re-engaged in the local community. Our organization helps our companies educate their employees on what’s good for their company, what’s good for the employees, and what’s good for their communities. Our Membership is participating in our local communities both charitably and civically at higher percentages, than in any other city across the United States.
If you are interested in having your company join the MCBA or being involved in other capacities. Please leave you information below and how you would like to get involved.
